  1. Check the Turn Angle: Hitch the spreader to the tractor. Turn as tight as you can. If you don’t have a Wide-Angle (CV) shaft, ensure the angle does not exceed 35 degrees. If it does, you are killing the U-joints.
  2. The “Guard” Check: Ammonia in manure destroys cheap plastic. Check your safety guard. If it’s cracked, replace it. Our HDPE guards are chemically resistant to slurry.
  3. Grease the Profile: Pull the shaft apart. Put a massive glob of grease inside the tubes. This is the only lubrication that the sliding surface gets. Without it, the shaft will seize under the heavy torque of spreading.
