You are asking your Flex Header<\/strong> to float over wet marine clay, often picking up damp, green-stemmed plants that refuse to flow smoothly. In my 18 years of working with combine drivelines, I\u2019ve seen this unique challenge destroy more “standard” PTO shafts than I can count.<\/p>\n

The problem is the “Slug.” When a wad of damp, green soybean material hits the auger or the draper belt, the torque requirement spikes instantly. It goes from 20% load to 120% load in a fraction of a second. If you are using a basic PTO shaft designed for dry grain, the shear bolt snaps. And we all know the frustration of replacing shear bolts five times an hour while the rain clouds are gathering. It kills your efficiency.<\/p>\n

We ensure our PTO yokes and gearbox inputs are heat-treated to the same Rockwell C hardness (HRC 58-62). This equilibrium prevents the loose fit that eventually strips splines.<\/li>\n
